Doris Batcheller Humphrey was an American dancer and choreographer of the early twentieth century. Doris Humphrey was born in 1895 and she died in 1958.
She wrote a book called the art of making dances,her book was published in 1959 which was the year after she died.
She was born in Illinois USA.
She was forced to retired dance because she had severe arthritis in her hip.
She started dance at the age of 8 and became a dance teacher at the age of 18.
